Celebrating Excellence: The King's Awards for Enterprise

Published on: 07/05/2024

Since 1965, The King's Awards for Enterprise have recognised outstanding achievements in UK businesses. Initiated by The Duke of Edinburgh for HM Queen Elizabeth II, these prestigious awards have long been associated with excellence and innovation.

Last year, King Charles III continued Queen Elizabeth’s legacy by giving His Majesty’s name to the prestigious awards in order to continue to encourage the impressive achievements of UK businesses in the fields of Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development, and Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility). As the UK thrives with dynamic and pioneering businesses, these awards provide an opportunity to celebrate their success and accomplishments.

The Impact of the Kings Awards for Enterprise on Businesses

Receiving a King's Award comes with many advantages. Winners can proudly display the Royal Emblem for five years, enhancing their brand and setting them apart from competitors. Additionally, the award ceremony, often attended by HM Lord-Lieutenants and occasionally members of the Royal Family, provides a significant morale boost to staff. Whether you’re a small business with groundbreaking innovations or a larger corporation championing their social mobility programmes, receiving this award demonstrates your contribution to enterprise.

Positive media coverage and the opportunity to attend a Royal Reception hosted by His Majesty The King, are also great benefits of winning this award. Past recipients have reported increased sales, access to new markets, and heightened global recognition, demonstrating the positive impact this award can have on your business.

In 2023, 149 awards were given, with 91% of recipients being SMEs. Notably, 23 recipients had fewer than 10 employees, showcasing the diversity and inclusivity of the awards.
